Overview
Students complete a mathematics course, and three options are available to cater to the different abilities and levels of student interest. Each course aims to deepen a student’s understanding of mathematics as a discipline and to promote confidence and facility in the use of mathematical language.

IB Math Applications and Interpretations HL- 159461/159561 11th & 12th grade
IB Math Applications and Interpretations HL Prerequisites: Honors Algebra 2 Credit: 2
This course includes the studies listed above in the SL course but expands learning across two years in order to include further studies of probability and statistics, broaden the study of calculus including differentiation and integration, and include a more rigorous study of pre-calculus. Students who wish to take the higher level (HL) of this course should have good algebraic skills and gain experience in solving real-world problems. They should be students who enjoy exploring challenging problems and who are comfortable to undertake this exploration using technology. Math Apps Subject Brief

IB Math Analysis and Approaches SL - 158261 - 11th or 12th Grade
Math Analysis Subject Brief Math Analysis and Approaches SL Prerequisites: PreCalculus Credit: 1 weighted
This course recognizes the need for analytical expertise in a world where innovation is increasingly dependent on a deep understanding of mathematics. This course includes topics that are both traditionally part of a pre-university mathematics course (functions, trigonometry, calculus...) as well as math studies that require investigation as well as conjecture and proof (sequences and series, proof by induction…).

IB Math Analysis and Approaches HL - 159261/159361 - 11th & 12th Grade
IB Math Analysis and Approaches HL Prerequisite: Advanced Pre-Calculus Credit: 1
This course includes the studies listed above in the SL course but expands learning across two years in order to go deeper into combinatorics and learn additional calculus topics in differentiation and integration. Students who wish to take the higher level (HL) of this course should have strong algebraic skills and will grow their ability to understand simple proof. They will be students who enjoy spending time solving challenging problems.

IB Math Applications and Interpretations SL- 158361 - 11th or 12th Grade
IB Math Applications and Interpretations SL Prerequisites: Algebra 2 Credit: 1 weighted
This course recognizes the increasing role that mathematics and technology play in a diverse range of fields in a data-rich world. It emphasizes the meaning of mathematics in context by focusing on topics that are often used as applications or in mathematical modeling. The Applications and Interpretations course also includes topics that are traditionally part of a pre-university mathematics course such as calculus and statistics. This course makes extensive use of technology to allow students to explore and construct mathematical models.
