Hello Rose Haggar Mariners!

I am so very excited about becoming a Rose Haggar Mariner!  This will be my fourth year as an Assistant Principal, and I am looking forward to learning from the staff and students as well as connecting with the Rose Haggar community.

My journey did not begin in education, but I am so grateful that it has brought me here now.  I graduated from Baylor University with a BBA in International Business and Marketing, and I began my career working as an IT consultant for 3 years with Andersen Consulting.  Although I enjoyed my time in the business world, working with children is my passion, so I changed my career path in order to make a greater impact in my community.  I have been blessed to have worked at 4 elementary schools in Plano: Wyatt, Huffman, Memorial, and now, Rose Haggar.  I have worked with Special Education students, taught first grade for a combined 11 years, and was an ESL Specialist for 3 years before becoming an administrator.  Between those years, I had the opportunity to stay home with my 2 beautiful daughters for 5 years.  I obtained my Masters of Education in Educational Leadership and Principal Certification from Texas Tech University to continue my journey of learning and become an administrator.  I really enjoy developing my leadership skills to help build capacity in our teachers, so that all of our students are provided with every opportunity to learn at the highest levels.  My most recent experience in Plano before coming to Rose Haggar was at Pearson Early Childhood School, where I had the opportunity to be an Assistant Principal for 3 years. I am excited to bring my experience from these various schools to Rose Haggar and share my passion for language development and critical thinking.  I believe these are key elements in children learning the fundamentals and building academic vocabulary, so that they are set up for success.  I am proud to be a part of a school that provides a safe place for staff and students to learn, make mistakes, and grow; feeling supported and cared about along their journey.

My husband and I have two beautiful daughters.  One is a sophomore in college, and the other is a junior in high school.  They keep us busy, but we enjoy spending time as a family traveling, going to football games, and just hanging out.  In my "free time" I like to read, exercise, and spend time with friends.

This will make year 19 for my career in education in Plano ISD.  I look forward to the possibilities and opportunities ahead to make this a great school year!
