• Application Process

  • Who should apply?

    Current 8th grade students who enjoy STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, math), making connections across content areas, and are project-oriented.  Interested learners should also embody the attributes outlined in the Learner Profile.

    Only current 8th grade students residing within PISD boundaries are eligible to apply. 

  • Submission of online application

    Applications for school year 2019-2020 will be available on November 16th, 2018 and must be completed and submitted by 11:59 PM on Friday, December 14th, 2018. You will receive a confirmation screen (or email) after application submission. Please print and keep the confirmation for your records. You can also save a pdf file of your completed application.

  • Mandatory attendance at an information meeting

    Academy High School will be hosting four Parent Meetings. In order to apply to Academy High School, parents/guardians of applicants must attend ONE of the parent information meetings.

    Doors will open at 5:30 for an interactive self-guided tour of our campus where Titan Ambassadors will be on location to answer questions.

    The Parent Meeting will begin promptly at 6:30 on the third floor in the DOME.

    These information nights are scheduled for the following dates:

    Monday, November 5th, 2018

    Thursday, November 8th, 2018

    Monday, November  12th, 2018

     

    There will also be an English/Spanish side by side meeting on Saturday, November 10th.

    Doors will open at 9:30 AM for a self-guided tour.

    The Parent Meeting will start promptly at 10:30 AM on the third floor in the DOME.

  • Prospective Student/Parent School Tours

    We will not be providing tours of our campus to prospective learners and parents outside the self-guided tours one hour prior to the start of each meeting on November 5, 8, 10 and 12. We encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities to see our building and visit with our Titan Ambassadors.

  • Middle School Visits

    Academy staff will be visiting with all Plano ISD 8th graders at their middle school campuses throughout the months of October and November to give them a broader perspective on the choices available to them at Academy High School.

  • Selection Process and Important Dates

    Current 8th grade students who desire to attend Plano ISD Academy High School and live within the Plano ISD boundaries will be provided an opportunity to complete an application. If there are more students than available spaces, students will be chosen for admission via lottery.  There will be a balance of male and female students represented at the school.  Student selection will be based on a proportionate representation across all middle schools in Plano ISD.

    Applicants will be notified of the results of the admission process by January 11th, 2019 after 3:30 PM.  Requests for early decisions cannot be honored.

    When applicants have been informed that they have been offered admission to the Academy, they will be required to submit an online Academy Commitment Letter to secure their admission by January 18th, 2019.
