Plano ISD celebrates Plano West Senior High School student Randy Guo for earning rare perfect scores in two college-level Advanced Placement (AP) Exams last May.

Advanced Placement Exams are scored on a scale of 1 to 5. Not only did Randy receive the top score of 5 in both the AP Chemistry Exam and Computer Science A Exam, he was also one of only 23 students internationally to earn every point possible on the AP Chemistry Exam, and one of only 91 students worldwide to earn every point possible on the AP Computer Science A Exam.

According to the College Board, this makes Randy one of only 17 students from around the world to earn every point possible in multiple challenging, college-level AP Exams in 2023!

“AP courses and exams are college-level, requiring great focus and persistence among participating students,” said Trevor Packer, head of the Advanced Placement Program. “We applaud the educators who encourage students to challenge themselves, who motivate and encourage diverse students to achieve their academic potential.”

The Advanced Placement Program is committed to ensuring that students have access to the opportunities they have earned. Students who succeed in AP are not only more likely to succeed in college, but have the chance to save a significant amount of time and money by earning college credit or placement.

Colleges and universities around the world receive AP scores for college credit, advanced placement, and/or consideration in the admission process.
