Dec. 13, 2018 - Eight Student Artworks Considered for TAEA Youth Art Month Exhibit

Each year, districts across the state submit artwork created by pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade student artists in consideration for selection for the Youth Art Month (YAM) State Capitol Artwork Exhibition in Austin. Eight works of art by Plano ISD students have been selected by the Plano ISD fine arts department to be considered for exhibition by the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) during National Youth Art Month in March. This year’s YAM theme is "Your Art, Your Story." If selected for the Texas capitol exhibition, artwork will be exhibited along with nearly 100 selected works at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum and the Lower Rotunda of the State Capitol Building in Austin.

Annually since 1961, March has been designated as National Youth Art Month, providing opportunities to celebrate student art and serving as an advocacy tool to promote the importance of student art in educating children as a whole. In Texas, Youth Art Month is the single most important observance to advocate the strength of Texas visual art programs.
