Jan. 31, 2019 - Pride of Plano, Visual Arts Juried Exhibition
On Thursday January 31, the Plano ISD Art Department held a closing reception for the Second Annual Pride of Plano Visual Arts Juried Exhibition at the Sockwell Center for Professional Development. Approximately 600 students, family members and teachers attended to celebrate the beautiful works of art. Pride of Plano artwork was on display from December 4 through January 31.
The Pride of Plano Exhibition was open to all Plano ISD students in grades Kindergarten - 12th grade. Students were invited to submit one of the following types of works in four divisions: elementary, middle school, high school (Non-AP level) and AP level students.
- An original two-dimensional work of art
- An original three-dimensional work of art
- A collaborative two-dimensional or three-dimensional work of art
Over 500 entries were received with a total of 160 works selected for the exhibition, 33 percent of the work submitted from each category was selected.
The selection committee was comprised of:
- Simeen Farhat, artist, MFA Texas Christian University
- Leslie Martinez, artist, MFA Yale University School of Art
- Greg Arp, Plano ISD theatre and speech coordinator
