Madeline McKienzie

GPA

4.03

Future Plans

Madeline McKienzie plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin and major in mechanical engineering.

Activities

Madeline was involved in many activities throughout her four years in high school - activities like National Honor Society, Student Council and according to Madeline, most importantly, FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC). "All of these activities taught me something important – from how to lead a large team of people to what I want to study in college."

Most Influential Teacher

She says that because the Academy High School has 450 students and less than 30 teachers, she has been close to all her teachers, and they all wanted to see her succeed. However, her junior year world history teacher, Mr. James Wright, had the most impact. "The way he taught and engaged his students showed me different ways to learn to better my education."

Advice to Students

"My advice for future high school graduates is to stay focused, find ways to enjoy learning and try new things. High school is an amazing time to explore and find your passion and meet new and amazing people. My last piece of advice is to become friends with your teachers because they want what is best for you and can help you make the most of your time during high school."
