I am so excited to be starting the 2019-2020 school year at Schell!
This will be my 14th year in education! I have been the school counselor at Schell for the past five years. I also taught 1st and 2nd grades in Austin and Garland before becoming a Schell Coyote. I graduated with my Masters in Counseling from Texas A&M-Commerce in May 2014. My undergraduate degree is from the University of Texas at Austin. Go Longhorns!
I love being a school counselor because it allows me to interact with all our Schell students. I get to be a teacher and a counselor all at the same time. My favorite part of my job is spending time with the students in guidance and small groups. Guidance lessons happen bi-monthly and we cover topics such as, building relationships, personal safety, digital leadership, goal setting, diversity, college and career readiness, and peer pressure. Individual and small group sessions are provided on a referral basis from teachers, parents, and student too. My goal is to assist all students to grow emotionally and socially in a positive way!
I love spending time with my husband, Dana, and my daughter, Siena. We have a Boston Terrier named Dexter and a German Shepherd named Bane. I love Tex-Mex, traveling, reading, and spending time outside.
