Plano ISD’s Academy High School Graduation Information

Cap, Gown & Announcements
Jostens is the 2019 supplier of announcements and caps and gowns. Packets for cap and gowns, and other graduation gear were distributed in the fall.
Packages bought in fall will be distributed Tuesday, March 26th 8:30–9:30am café.

Learners will not be allowed to decorate their cap.
Rehearsal will be Friday, May 24th 11am at Academy HS in the dome. Rehearsal is mandatory for all seniors who plan to participate in the graduation ceremony.
Tickets for Family and Guests
Tickets will be required for guest admittance into the Eisemann Center. All guests will need a ticket, regardless of age. Tickets will be issued to the learners at the end of graduation rehearsal Friday, 5/24th. The number of admission tickets issued is based upon the number of graduates to be accommodated at the facility. Seating will be general admission. There are areas for handicap seating for those who need it and they may be accompanied by one companion (both must have tickets). The tickets are for family and friends; the graduate does not need a ticket. Plano ISD Academy HS learners will receive 12 tickets each. If additional tickets are available, Mrs. Ojeda will issue on a case by case basis. Please email her the number of extra tickets needed by Thursday, 5/23rd at noon to be considered. Often seniors will find other kids who will not use all their tickets and the spare tickets can be used by another senior.

Ceremony and Dress Code
Seniors must arrive at the auditorium one hour (1pm) before the ceremony properly attired in the grey gown and cap with blue stole & tassel in addition to any cords they have earned. Cords given out by school or clubs will be handed out before the last day of school. When learners arrive at Eisemann they will be directed downstairs to a green room to line up before the ceremony. Parents remain in the lobby until doors open to the auditorium. The ceremony is estimated to last 1 hour.
Ladies should wear dresses, skirts, or dress slacks and appropriate shoes. Floors can be slippery and there will be stairs so be mindful of footwear. Gentlemen are to wear dress pants, long sleeved dress shirts, ties and appropriate shoes. Lettering and/or decorations are not appropriate on caps or gowns, no shorts, jeans, or athletic shoes. Graduates may not have personal items in their possession when they line up for the processional (CELL PHONES, CAMERAS, PURSES, ETC). Have parents hold these items until after the ceremony. Green rooms will not be monitored or locked, so do not plan on leaving the above items in the room during the ceremony.
Plano ISD Policies
To respect and honor all graduating seniors and their families, please review these policies.
Plano Independent School District may refuse admission (or may expel) patrons for disruptive or disorderly conduct. Noisemakers and air horns are not permitted. Persons found with these items will be escorted from the venue. Other items prohibited at this venue are balloons, silly string/confetti, lighters, matches, laser pointers, weapons, back packs, large purses, bags, food and drinks, tobacco products, large flower arrangements, signs, large banners, tripods and professional cameras. Learners will also sign a code of conduct form for the ceremony.
Approximately one week following graduation, video of the ceremony will be posted on Plano ISD’s website.
Flash Photography will photograph each graduate before the ceremony downstairs when they arrive and during the ceremony. They will mail proofs at no charge within a few days of the ceremony. Orders can be placed on the Flash Photography website: www.flashphotography.com
A ceremonial diploma will be given during the ceremony. The actual diploma will be given in an envelope after the ceremony downstairs before seniors meet with family in the lobby. Diplomas not picked up at the ceremony will be available for pick-up during office hours at Academy High School the week of June 3rd – 6th.

Learners were asked to verify their first, middle, and last name to be printed on their diploma and stated at the graduation ceremony.
