Music

Overview
The music curriculum at Centennial is largely based on the teachings and philosophy of Zoltan Kodaly. The Kodaly method is a highly sequential and developmental method which uses the voice as the main instrument. The goal of the Hungarian based method is to promote musical literacy through folk tunes and the child's own singing voice. Each child has 1 music lesson per week. Each lesson is filled with skills such as singing, playing instruments, music games, folk dancing, reading, writing and creating music. The main goal of the music program at Centennial is to produce a musically literate child who can go on to enjoy music through out his/her lifetime.
