Hello!

My name is Kulsum Mzee

I have been teaching for 20 years, beginning in Japan as an ESL teacher. This is my 12th year with Plano ISD. I started as a resource teacher and then transitioned into the general classroom teaching math and science to fourth and fifth graders.

I'm passionate about my students' social-emotional health and believe in bringing positive change in this world. I want to help students achieve a growth mindset by teaching them to maximize their potential to grow and change and to help them see the importance of learning from their mistakes and challenges.

I'm a big fan of Jo Boeler and I love to instill her ideas of a growth mindset to all my students: that anyone can learn to higher levels, mistakes are OK, speed is not important and to believe in yourself.  

On a personal note, I'm married to my lifelong partner, Hussein, and have two children, Nadia and Nabil. I also have a dog called Prince. I love traveling, hiking, yoga, and gastronomy.
