Ms. Newland
I am thrilled to be a part of the Barron Elementary family for a third year, and honored to serve again as the Fifth Grade Team Lead. This year marks my 12th year teaching in public schools, and I’m excited to continue inspiring and supporting the amazing fifth graders at Barron.
With over a decade of classroom experience, my passion for nurturing young minds continues to grow with each passing year. This will be my ninth year teaching fifth grade, following three wonderful years teaching third grade. These diverse teaching experiences have given me a well-rounded perspective on student growth, academic development, and the importance of building strong, supportive classroom communities.
As a proud Plano ISD student, parent, volunteer, and now educator, my roots in this district run deep. My journey through Plano ISD has shaped my commitment to fostering an engaging, inclusive, and empowering learning environment where every student can thrive.
In addition to my classroom experience, I have a strong background in managing both preschools and private schools. This has enriched my approach to education by providing a broader view of early childhood development and school leadership.
I earned my Master’s degree in Education from Texas A&M University, where I was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi, the international honor society in education. Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to receive several professional honors, including being named a Distinguished Teacher from 2017 to 2023, a Recognized Teacher by the Texas Education Agency in 2020, and most recently, Barron Elementary’s 2024–2025 Teacher of the Year. These accolades reflect my ongoing dedication to educational excellence and student success.
Outside of school, I enjoy painting and spending cherished time with my two grown daughters and three wonderful grandchildren, who continue to inspire me every day.
I am truly excited to begin another fantastic year at Barron Elementary and look forward to the learning, laughter, and growth that this school year will bring in fifth grade!
