My name is Katie Bares, and I have been teaching at Skaggs Elementary since 2008. I taught five years in third grade before switching to fifth grade. Teaching has been my dream since I was about 8 years old! My third grade teacher was an inspiration to me and a positive influence on my life. I hope to be the same to my students each day.

I grew up in Katy, Texas and went to college at Texas Tech University in Lubbock where I majored in Early Childhood Education and Spanish. After college, I began teaching at Academic Beginnings Center in Levelland ISD. When my husband, Jared, and I were married, we moved to the DFW area in order to be closer to family. That’s when I began my career at Skaggs. Since then, we have added 3 children to our family!
