    Nia Carranza

My role as counselor is to support the children, faculty, and parents in any way possible. I have classroom guidance time with each grade level every other week. These 30-minute lessons cover subjects such as decision making, dealing with peer pressure, building friendships, managing anger, conflict resolution, handling stress, goal setting, staying drug free, and personal safety. Additionally, I organize small groups each semester for new students, building friendships, changing families, and study skills.

I am also in charge of standardized testing and am a member of the Campus Monitoring and Intervention Team, which helps to plan strategies for student success. In any free time, I meet with teachers, students, and parents, and stay alert for any crisis that may arise!
