Hello all, my name is José Barnett and this is my 3rd year as the music specialist at Jackson Elementary.

I began teaching in 2007 in Tucson Arizona as a band/orchestra/general music teacher. I then earned a Master of Music in 2011 where I had the honor of directing many of the jazz ensembles as a Teaching Assistant. Thereafter, I taught General Music in Peoria, AZ for a couple of years until I decided to pursue a graduate degree in Music Theory at University of North Texas. I have also taught as an adjunct instructor at Texas Woman’s University in the music theory area.

I enjoy spending time with my family: my wife, Amy, and my daughters, Isabel and Sofia. 

I look forward to sharing the joys of music with Jackson’s student body.
