Principal, Jigyasa Sethi
-
My name is Jigyasa Sethi. It is my honor to serve the Hightower community as your principal. My vision is to create a community of empowered learners, where every individual grows and in turn facilitates growth in others. I am excited to bring my experiences and passion to this amazing community with the sole goal of partnering with you for many years to come.
I was born in New Delhi, India, and moved to the United States when I was a senior in high school. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Northern Illinois University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics from UT Southwestern Medical Center. I received my teacher certification from the University of Texas at Dallas and have a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of North Texas.
My relationship with Plano ISD began almost two decades ago when my son became a kindergartner at Skaggs Elementary. For almost two decades, I have taken on the role of an active volunteer and PTA member, substitute teacher, student teacher, elementary teacher, and assistant principal, all in Plano schools. I firmly believe that I am a ‘homegrown’ leader. Besides growing me, Plano ISD has given my child a solid academic and social-emotional foundation, one that has made him a successful young adult in today’s world. I choose to do the same for every student who crosses my path.
Jigyasa means ‘curiosity’ in Sanskrit. My curiosity and love for learning has been the basis for my own personal growth. I have to acknowledge that my family, mentors, and teachers have carved the path for me to continue in my learning. One of my favorite quotes, “Growth is never by mere chance, it is the result of forces working together” highlights my underlying belief. It is my hope that our partnership will become that powerful force working together in an effort to grow all our kids.
