Mrs. (Miller)-Sorenson

My legal surname is Miller-Sorenson, but in the classroom, students call me Mrs. Sorenson!  I graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Secondary Education/Social Studies.  The motto at BYU is "Enter to Learn, Go Forth to Serve."   I have always had a passion for helping people solve problems and achieve their goals.  I have been actively involved in PTA, Scouts, Love Where You Live, Destination Imaginations and my church.  I am the mother of five former Carpenter Cowboys and one current Cowboy.  My own children were greatly influenced by teachers at Carpenter.  While serving as a parent on the SBIC committee at Carpenter, I was so impressed with these same teachers' vision, love, and dedication that I decided I wanted to work with them.  I have worked at Carpenter Middle School in the Special Education Program for the past six years.  I teach 6th Grade Resource English and the Reading Horizons Dyslexia program.  My passion is helping students recognize their talents, accept themselves in spite of imperfections, and acquire the skills or tools they need to be successful.
