I am back teaching after being a stay-at-home mom / partial homeschool teacher for 18 years. I am focusing on getting my Master's degree in reading and am now a Dyslexia Specialist. I live in Murphy with my husband of 20 years, my 16 year old son, three dogs and whatever other animal I find to rescue. My oldest son is 18 years old and out of the house to experience life on his own and I can't wait for him to move back in. This is my second year at Stinson and I love the community and the students. I have a passion for students that have been diagnosed with dyslexia because my youngest son has the same diagnosis. I have seen first hand the struggle to read as well as the inner conflict of feeling that you are not as good as the other students around you, and then the overcompensation to try to be perfect. I spend a lot of time encouraging my students and letting them know that their brain is not less intelligent, but in fact, can be more creative. We focus on their strengths as well as how everyone is created for a different purpose and they will have just what they need to fulfill that purpose.
