Mrs. Parker
I am so excited and blessed to be starting my first year as a Beverly bobcat! This is my ninth year as a teacher in the amazing Plano Independent School District, and my fourth year in my dream role as a Dyslexia Support Teacher. Prior to beginning my path towards becoming a Certified Academic Language Therapist as a Dyslexia Therapist, I was a Special Education Teacher where I mainly provided instruction to students identified with dyslexia.
When I was an elementary-aged kiddo myself, I was identified as a student with dyslexia. So, I personally understand the lifelong impact that positive support and instruction can have on individuals with dyslexia. This is why I am thrilled to be back for another year working with the most amazing students as the Dyslexia Support Teacher!
On our campus, I work with the students, staff, and, parents each day to help foster student success. My main role as a language specialist is to implement the amazing therapy and intervention programs that PISD has to offer students with dyslexia and dysgraphia, in addition to monitoring student progress to ensure growth and success. For our students identified with dyslexia, I am trained to implement Scottish Rite Hospital's notorious Take Flight language therapy program, which helps students "crack the code" in reading and spelling. Another amazing multisensory intervention program that I provide that can support students in the "rewiring" process is called Reading Horizons. I also have the privilege of providing intervention to students identified with dysgraphia, using a program called CursiveLogics.
Thanks to the support of PISD, and the wonderful Bobcat staff and community, I am very much looking forward to a meaningful and impactful school year in the Beverly Family! Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child.
