  • The Instructional Support Specialist's Role

    • Assist with implementing the reading/language arts program
    • Diagnose and implement the dyslexia program
    • Model lessons in reading/writing and conference with teachers about effective strategies for classroom instruction
    • Facilitate implementation of new materials, philosophies, and innovations
    • Provide small group or one-on-one instruction to students identified with literacy needs
    • Conduct formal and informal professional development programs for the reading/writing program
    • Maintain and promote use of the Literacy Library
    • Attend CARE meetings to assist in diagnosing reading difficulties and developing a literacy plan for qualifying students.
