Mr. Batty

Mr. Batty is the Theatre and Speech instructor at Armstrong Middle School. For the fall semester, his duties include teaching Theatre 1- Introduction to Theatre, Theatre 3- Advanced Theatre, and Speech 1- Introduction to Public Speaking. Before coming to Armstrong, Mr. Batty taught at the middle school and high school levels in the Oklahoma City area and in New York City (Go Mets!). 

Mr. Batty believes his purpose as a theatre and speech instructor is to help students discover who they are as performers, and more importantly, as people. He believes that theatre and speech can be powerful means of expression and communication that can promote critical thinking and questioning while also evoking feeling and understanding. As a teacher, it is his objective to provide students with a meaningful, comprehensive theatre and speech education while reinforcing the ideals of personal integrity, responsibility, and individuality.

Mr. Batty is a member of Texas Educational Theatre Association. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Oklahoma and a Master of Arts in Educational Theatre from New York University. When he is not at school, he is probably at home watching Star Wars movies with his wife, Katie, his daughter, Lila, and their two cats, Maggie and Teddy.
