Degrees and Certifications:
Lisa Williams, ESL Coach and Interventionist
Colleges: George Mason University and University of Texas at Dallas
Teaching History: This will be my 13th year teaching. My first job was teaching 3rd and 4th grade at an IB School in Ecuador in South America. Then, we moved to the Washington, DC area, where I taught 1st grade for 5 years and was the ESL and Intervention Specialist for 2 years. When I arrived at Huffman Elementary, I was a 4th grade teacher for 1 year. This will be my third year as the ESL Coach at Huffman.
Family:
My husband is retired Navy, which enabled our family the opportunity to travel and live all over the United States and abroad in Latin America and Asia. Our oldest child is an ER Vet in McKinney and the youngest works in the Ichthyology Collections at the Natural History Museum at the University of Florida.
Interests/Hobbies:
Outside of school, I love spending time with family and friends. My family and I like to scuba dive, snow ski, and play spades or Settlers of Catan. I also enjoy playing golf.
Why do you want to work at the IB World School?
I was thrilled to become a member of the Huffman Hawk team as it combines my passion for global minded, inquiry based education and my love of working with young scholars. As the English Language Coach, I truly appreciate that the IB also promotes multilingualism as a core principle and celebrates the cultural and language diversity of all our Hawks.
