Communities In Schools is a private nonprofit based in the school, committed to helping students stay in school, achieve academically and graduate to become productive and contributing members of our communities. CIS is the largest stay–in-school network in the nation.
Since 1978, Communities In School has provided year-round, on–campus academic and social support services to more than 325,000 children and their families in grades pre-K through 12 in Dallas, Collin, Rockwall and Ellis counties.
Once target areas are identified, the CIS staff will begin to develop both individual and group activities to address those needs. The Six Components of all CIS program services are: Supportive Guidance, Health and Human Services, Family Involvement, Educational Enrichment.
Some examples of services provided by CIS are: mentoring, homework help, support groups, agency referrals, career and college readiness.
