  • Bowman History

    Portait of George Washington Bowman.

Bowman Middle School was built in 1968 and first opened as Bowman Junior High. It is named after banker George Washington Bowman (1844-1921), a Civil War veteran who later became a farmer. Mr. Bowman was one of the organizers of the Plano National Bank in 1887 and was president of its board until his death. He also served on the Plano city council and PISD school board.

Bowman Middle School was constructed at a cost of $1.4 million and has had three additions (1971, 1973, and 1992).
