Mentor Program
All teachers new to the profession will be assigned to a mentor who will support them during their first two years in Plano ISD. Additionally, experienced teachers new to the district will receive mentor support during their first year to acclimate them to their campus and assist with the transition into PISD.Plano mentors embody the vision of the district. They are Committed to Excellence, Dedicated to Caring, and Powered by Learning. Mentors receive ongoing training to build their capacity to address the needs of new teachers and to differentiate their support based on what they learn about each new teacher. They also can connect the new teachers to additional support sources around the district. In addition to the work of campus mentors, new teachers can receive coaching and guidance from our teams of instructional specialists in Elementary or Secondary Academic Services, participate in Virtual Goal Groups or Learning Labs for Classroom Environment to strengthen their classroom management skills, and attend targeted sessions throughout the year to learn more about how various departments within Plano ISD can support them.Mentor Program Contact
