Please note that student teacher requests are handled through Human Resources; students or representatives of requesting programs should not contact campus staff directly.
Plano ISD welcomes student teachers during the fall and spring semesters. To request a placement for student teaching, please follow the guidelines and steps listed below:

1. Determine if your request is from a Partner University
Universities that partner with the Plano ISD for student teacher placement include:

Texas Institute for Teacher EducationAll student teacher candidates must be entering the final semester of the teacher preparation program; and, upon successful completion of student teaching and any other program requirements, be eligible for a Texas Standard Teaching Certificate. Plano ISD does not place student teachers in paid internship assignments.

2. Review Placement Timelines
Fall Semester-- Request for placement must be received by April 1st from the student teacher's program advisor.
Spring Semester-- Request for placement must be received by November 1st from the student teacher's program advisor.

3. Complete the Student Teacher Application for Student Teaching Placement
Please complete the Student Teacher Application for your student teaching request. It is imperative that you select "Student Teacher" in the Jobs/Location Category section of your application. It is the last category on the screen.
When completing the application, it is not necessary to select a campus location as placements will be determined by HR Staff and are based solely on availability.
If you have submitted a volunteer application in the past for observing or for another reason you may select "Returning Volunteer" on the application launch page. If you do not remember your User ID and password, select "Forgot User ID and Password." Once you are logged in, you will be able to update your application for student teaching by selecting "Student Teacher" listed on the "Jobs" section. You will need to submit your application again after selecting the certification level for placement.

Plano ISD Identification Badge
Badges will be issued after attendance at the Student Teacher Orientation and must be worn at all times while on the assigned campus.
