Mrs. Natalie Herman

Hello!

I am excited about teaching Kindergarten for my third year at Hickey! This will mark the start of my 7th year in education. While I do have most of my experience with early childhood, I also have experience working with a large range of students from K-2 grade while I was completing my undergraduate degree in elementary education. However, I love teaching the littles, especially how to read and write!

A little about me... I was born in Garland, Texas and was raised in the Plano school system until the end of eighth grade! I attended a couple of elementary schools, including both Stinson and Boggess. I also went to Murphy Middle School, living right across the street in the Daniel Crossing Neighborhood! However, during the summer before the start of my 9th grade year, my family packed up our house, and we moved to Seattle, WA. It wasn't long after that I was in the middle of my 10th grade year, and  we moved to Chanhassen, Minnesota. I graduated from Chanhassen High School in 2013. However, I wasn't done moving around just yet. Montana State University offered me a scholarship to attend their education program and received my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education K-8, graduating in 2017. Whew! But I never forgot where I came from and returned to Texas to start my career as a teacher!

When I am not teaching, you can find me spending time with my amazing husband of four years and snuggling with my two sweet kitties, Robin and Chopper, at our house in Wylie, TX- only a short drive from Hickey! Additionally, I am an avid beauty collector, shopper of ALL fashion, and a reader! I especially love reading both mysteries and thrillers. I also enjoy playing video games on any gaming system, but I prefer the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. At school, my previous students come and visit to discuss anything, but often it's related to my favorite Pokémon characters or to show off their new shoes. There isn't much more to share about myself other than I love what I do, and it's a job I consider both entertaining and invigorating!

I look forward to another amazing year, and thank you for taking the time to read!
