Mr. Nolan Mueller, BFA

Mr. Mueller has taught elementary art since 2012. Mueller earned his BFAs in Studio Art from the University of North Texas in 2011 under great professors like Elmer Taylor, Robert Jessup, Matthew Bourbon, Jim Burton, and Lari Gibbons. Mueller spent a year as a substitute teacher in Denton ISD while simultaneously teaching adult painting classes at a private studio in South Lake. In 2012, he began teaching at a public charter school in Richardson/Plano where he remained for 12 years building the visual arts and graphic design program from the ground up. His classes ranged from pre-K to 12th grade and sometimes included teaching Math, English, Social Studies, Science, PE, Music, Yearbook, Newspaper, CTE, and STEM. He is very excited to join Plano ISD, Plano’s Visual Arts team, the IB program, and ESPECIALLY Huffman Elementary. GO HAWKS!

Mueller moved to Plano in 2013 and quickly decided to make this city his home. He joined the Plano Art Association and has had the honor of getting to work with and learn from their members like Gene Dillard and Gaby Pruitt, as well as partners of theirs like Jen Seibert at Collin College and Mike Mazur at NTPA. He also partnered with Plano author and playwright, Daniel Turner, to illustrate the children’s book Sometimes I’m an Animal. You may have seen Mueller painting live at festivals like the Plano Balloon Festival or the Plano International Festival. He has painted dozens of murals around DFW as well.

When Mueller isn’t teaching or making art, he writes and records music and likes woodworking. However, most of his time is spent with his family, friends and church.
