Libraries of the 21st century are centers and hubs for inquiry, information literacy, reading for both learning and personal enjoyment. The library is a place that offers accessible resources both in print and digitally.
It is my job as librarian to help guide students in their journey of information literacy. This means that students will learn how to "efficiently locate, accurately evaluate, ethically use and clearly communicate information" in different forms. (Texas School Library Standards, 2017)
It is my job as a librarian to ensure that the Bethany library is a safe, respectful and nurturing environment.
It is my job as a librarian to collaborate, co-plan and co-teach with fellow teachers with the understanding that collaborative design has the desired effect of increasing student achievement and "positively influenc[ing] student learning" (Montiel-Overall, 2005)
My purpose as a librarian is to instill a love of discovery, wonder and joy in students and I am happy and proud to be at Bethany Elementary.
Collaboration has the potential for creating a renewal in education by combining the strengths of
two or more individuals in productive relationships that can positively influence student learning.Sources
