Elementary Computer Science
-
Elementary Computer Science involves students learning to code both on-screen and through coding manipulatives. Rather than encountering coding through a specific course, students have many opportunities to learn about computer science and coding through in-class coding lessons and outside the classroom opportunities. Teachers and students access coding manipulatives such as Lego Coding Express (Pre-K), Terrapin Blue-Bots (PK-2), and Sphero Bots (3-5) to learn coding knowledge and skills. Each campus has sets of coding resources. Teachers and librarians may choose to offer coding experiences in the classroom as part of co-curricular learning opportunities, when appropriate.
