Ms. Lisa Garner
Instructional Specialist
Experience In Education: I have been teaching for the last 31 years in Plano ISD. I began my teaching career at Bethany Elementary (5 years), followed by Wyatt Elementary (7 years) before I landed at Martha Hunt Elementary in 2005.
Background: Teaching is definitely my calling. I can not think of another job that would be more rewarding than lighting the spark of inquiry and knowledge to inquisitive little minds. I attended Lamar University in Beaumont, Tx. and received my BSW. I also attended Stephen F. Austin, Nacogdoches, Tx for my Reading Specialization Certification and Education Generalization K-8th. Gratefully, I had amazing professors who taught me the dedication and commitment that teaching would require. As the old saying goes…if you do something you love you will never have to work a day in your life. That is how I feel about teaching and working with the students at Hunt. This year I will continue to provide support to the students and staff as the Instructional Specialist. My goal is to provide a Multi-Tiered Support System for all students requiring additional assistance beyond the classroom, as well as advocate and guide teachers as an instructional coach.
In the past, I have had the honors of receiving Beginning Teacher of the Year, Bethany Elementary, Teacher of the Year, Bethany and Hunt Elementary, PTA Lifetime Member Wyatt and Hunt Elementary, and Outstanding Educator Teacher Award from the Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas.
I am looking forward to another fantastic school year at Hunt Elementary.
Interest: In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, museums, traveling, and meeting new people. My most recent new hobby…Gardening!
