Arthura Johnson
Hello! Welcome. I am a passionate teacher with a life-long love of learning. My love of learning has spilled over into my classroom over the years and had a great impact on inspiring students. I grew up in Ruston, Louisiana and attended Grambling State University where I received my bachelor’s degree and a Master’s of Arts in Teaching degree in the Social Sciences with a concentration in Psychology and a Master's degree in Criminal Justice. I have teacher certifications in Special Education EC-12; ESL EC-12 and ELAR 4-8. I have been a Special Education Resource teacher and a Developmental Learning Classroom teacher here, in Texas, and Louisiana. I have a daughter, 4 grandchildren and 4.5 great-grandchildren.
I have taught a variety of grades and core subjects - English, Math, Science and Social Studies, but found that I mostly enjoy teaching in middle school grades. This year I will be teaching Resource/Inclusion ELA 8th and 7th grade, and I am excited about this year's adventures in learning. Although I started my teaching career at what I call, 'late in life,' it was the best choice for me. I especially enjoy working with my students for their academic success and helping to prepare them for entering high school and beyond. My favorite things to do are spending time with my family, writing, painting, karaoke and traveling.
I am looking forward to this new school year's adventures in learning.
