I am so excited to be starting my 16th year at Mathews, where I will be teaching 4th grade English Language and Reading. I grew up in Plano and attended 1st -12th grades in PISD.  (Shepard, Wilson, Vines, Plano Senior High)  I began teaching in 1990 at Shepard Elementary, where I taught for 6 years.  My first year of teaching, I was awarded Plano ISD Beginning Teacher of the Year.

  After a twelve-year hiatus as a stay-at-home mom, I returned to the classroom.  My husband is the testing coordinator at Plano Senior High School.  We have 3 grown children - Sam  teaches at Vines High School and coaches baseball, Emma is a Speech Pathologist in Prosper ISD, and Claire is starting her junior year at the University of Nebraska. I absolutely love  teaching reading and make it my personal goal to help each of my students discover the joy of reading.  In my free time, I enjoy scrapbooking, reading, walking my dog and spending time with my family. I am looking forward to another great year here at Mathews!
