Assistant Principal - Campus Behavior Coordinator
I am honored to be a “Mighty Maverick” and serve as your assistant principal at Mathews! This will be my fifth year at Mathews. My door is always open and I welcome the opportunity to celebrate learning and community with our students, parents, faculty and staff. We are a team.
A little bit about me. My experience in the classroom are at the elementary and middle school level serving as a general education teacher, Instructional Specialist, and as the Gifted and Talented teacher at the middle school. I have enjoyed serving as team leader, writing the curriculum for the GT program, and serving on district improvement planning committees as well as curriculum writing committees for Language Arts and Math.
I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Southwestern University in Georgetown and my Master of Education Administration from the University of North Texas in Denton.
Born and raised in San Antonio with summers in the Hill Country, I later moved to North Texas. My husband, Tom is originally from Indiana, so needless to say we are BIG Hoosier fans. We are ‘empty nesters’ though I know Lindsey and Jeff are just a moment away. Family time now includes Tank and Augie, our Chihuahua and Golden Retriever who we affectionately referred to as our “Odd Couple”. Free time includes weekends at the lake with family, friends, and of course-Augie and Tank.
I look forward to our 2019-2020 school year together working with you, your child, Mr. Steele, and our amazing staff at Mathews Elementary. Know that we are 'All-In' as we work together to make the 2019-2020 school year a fabulous year for our Mavericks!
