Art Teaher K-5
AMPE'D
Hello, Bobcats! My name is Oliver Koch, and I'm the art teacher here at Memorial Elementary. I received my BFA from the University of North Texas in Visual Arts Studies in 2021, and have been teaching art for four years this year, though this is my third year at Memorial Elementary. I'm originally from Houston, Texas, but I moved up to DFW back in 2019 to obtain my degree, and I've been here ever since. I've been a life-long artist and creative since I can remember, and it's my goal to share the love of creativity with each Bobcat at Memorial.
I believe that anyone can be an artist, and that art is the common thread that ties us all together, throughout every culture, time, and place. Art teaches creative thinking skills, problem-solving, and reinforces interdisciplinary skills that students will take with them and use their entire lives, even if they don't end up in a creative field as adults. More importantly, art teaches us to connect with others, and ourselves.
I hope that this will be a great year for Memorial, and every artist here!
