6th Grade Language Arts
"A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one."
- George RR Martin.
I've been teaching for 20 years with 17 years here at Haggard Middle School in 6th Grade Language Arts. I've been married for 18 years and have 3 kids: Aidan, a 5th grader, Isabella, a 4th grader, and a preschooler, Emma, who is about to turn three and a half. They keep me busy outside of school but are a blessed reminder of why I have chosen this profession.
Reading and critical analysis are my passions, and I hope my students come away from my class with a love and appreciation for books. Not only that, but also, critical reading, thinking, and writing skills to help them be more successful in life and help them reach their potential. I also love to garden, bake, and of course, spend time with my babies at home. This is my home away from home, and I find so much joy in teaching and in students learning! We will have many opportunities for growth this year, and I do take each day as it comes feeling blessed and grateful. I look forward to a successful year of creating lifelong readers!
