"To teach is to touch lives forever!"

Hello! I’m Indira Curtis, originally from Panama City, Panama. In 1994, I embarked on a new chapter by moving to the United States. I’m happily married to Glen Deckard, a proud Texan, and together we have two wonderful daughters: Jamie, who is pursuing a Nursing degree, and Jewel, who is working towards her Master’s in Biological Anthropology. I’m also a proud grandmother to one-year-old Sunny Belén and share my home with a lovable small dog named Bruiser. Outside of work, I enjoy a range of hobbies, including weightlifting, reading non-fiction, traveling, gardening, playing tennis, hiking, and paddleboarding. Most importantly, I cherish spending quality time with my family. I earned my teaching degree from the University of Texas at Dallas and have been a part of the Memorial community since 2004. Inspired by the dedication and passion of my own first-grade teacher, I am committed to making a positive impact in students' lives and will continue to do so with enthusiasm until my retirement.

  • What Memorial means to me.

Being a part of the Memorial Elementary family for over 20 years has been a profoundly rewarding experience. I take immense pride in being one of the pillars of this exceptional institution. Memorial has been instrumental in my growth, not only professionally but personally. It has taught me invaluable lessons in humility, empathy, passion, patience, collaboration, grace, and optimism. Through the years, Memorial has shaped me into a better educator, inspiring me to persevere through challenges and remain dedicated to helping our students succeed. My journey here has been a testament to the power of community and the impact of a supportive environment on both personal and professional development.
