Mrs. Amanda H. Sims

I'm so excited about joining the Vines High School family for my 20th year in education, and my 3rd year in PISD. I've worked in four different states (Texas, Wyoming, Missouri. and Louisiana) and taught high school English, middle school Language Arts/Reading, elementary grades 2,3, and 5, and special education at all grade levels. Prior to moving to Plano in 2020, I worked as a high school special education coordinator in Wyoming for 7 years. I'm excited to be back in the high school classroom, and I'm very enthusiastic about high school English and Language Arts.

I earned my bachelor's degree from University of Louisiana Monroe, in Monroe, La., and a master's degree in Special Education from Drury University in Springfield, Mo. I received my post baccalaureate teacher education at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, La. I also attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, La. I was reared on the family farm in the small village of Oak Ridge, La., which is near Monroe, in North Louisiana.

I teach English I, and English II and I'm looking forward to working with your child this year. Please email me if you have any questions or concerns. My office hours for tutoring are Tuesday/Thursday from 4:15-4:45, or by appointment.
