Mr. Philip Killgo

Mr. Killgo is entering his first year as a music educator, and is very excited to join the team at Otto! He teaches all the Beginning Brass classes and the Symphonic Band, and also assists with the Wind Ensemble and Concert Band. His primary instrument is the trombone.

Mr. Killgo graduated from Texas Tech University in December of 2021, and received a Bachelor of Music with a degree plan leading to Teacher Certification. While at Texas Tech, he studied trombone with Prof. James Decker, and was an active member of the Texas Tech Trombone Studio. Mr. Killgo performed with the TTU Trombone Choir (including a performance at the 2019 International Trombone Festival), TTU Symphonic Band (including a performance at the 2020 CBDNA Southwest Division Conference), and the Goin’ Band from Raiderland.

Mr. Killgo completed his student teaching at Hebron High School with Andy Sealy, and at Arbor Creek Middle School with Kimberly Beene. During his student teaching, the Hebron Marching Band won their first ever UIL 6A State Marching Band Championship. Mr. Killgo also had the opportunity to substitute teach in the Spring of 2022, in both Lewisville ISD and Plano ISD. He was a long term substitute for 6th grade Math at Creek Valley Middle School in LISD.
