Special education services are provided for each student who meets eligibility requirements. Students eligible for special education services may have learning differences, emotional/behavioral concerns and/or physical challenges (i.e., vision or hearing impairments). Consideration of a student's eligibility for special education services is initiated by a referral to the Campus Assessment Team, which may be requested by parents, school personnel or outside agencies.
In 2019, the 86th Texas Legislature passed Senate Bill 139 (SB 139), which requires Texas local education agencies (LEAs) to distribute the following notice to all parents:
