Ms. Vicky Suarez
This is my second year at Shepard and in Plano ISD, and my 18th year as an elementary music teacher. Prior to teaching in Plano, I taught in Richardson ISD and Arlington ISD.
I believe all children should have access to a quality music education. My goal is to foster a love of music, through music-making and meaningful study. In our classroom we sing, dance, play games, play instruments, explore events and people in music history, and learn music from many cultures, composers, and time periods. Music study should be engaging and fun, whether we are working with the music of 400 years ago or the music of today.
I'm always eager to learn more about teaching music and I love sharing with other teachers.
I'm interested in what kind of music my students listen to outside of our classroom. Please let me know your family favorites!
My husband Rob and I live in Richardson. We have a blended family of five children: Gabriel (23, graduate of OU in Music Education, and now a band director in Kaufman ISD), Emma (22 and a Nursing student at UTA), Andrew (19 and a sophomore at Richland College), Ethan (16 and a junior at Krum High School), and Janie (14 and a freshman at J. J. Pearce High School).
I love cooking, reading, and riding my bike around White Rock Lake. I love concerts, movies, and restaurants, and dogs and cats. I enjoy playing my flute in the New Texas Symphony Orchestra of Dallas.
Teaching music to children is my dream job, and I can't wait to welcome your child to my classroom!
