Mr. Gabel

Hello there! My name is Jacob (Jake) Gabel and I teach 8th grade English as well as working with other teachers as an inclusion teacher! I received my degree from UNT in December, 2020, and I immediately started substitute teaching in Denton ISD for the rest of that school year. In 2021-2022, I substituted for Frisco ISD, then in March, took a position as a long term substitute to finish out the year as an English teacher. Then I was fortunate to be given the opportunity to work full-time at Frankford in 2022-2023; I am now returning for my second year here and I am so excited to see what this year brings!

In my free time, I have several hobbies. My two biggest hobbies are reading and playing video games. I actually love them for very similar reasons; in both you are transported to other worlds; meet new people, go on adventures, and what not. The only difference is with reading YOU create the backdrop and images in your mind. This is one of the things that inspired me to teach. I know how reading is viewed by a lot of students: "Reading is boring" "TV is better". My why is teaching kids to love reading; showing them those worlds they can explore, introducing them to these different characters. Hopefully, through developing a love for reading, they can also develop a love for writing and creating their own worlds, characters, and places. I am looking forward for the chance to do so again this year!
