Bachelor of Arts, Music Education, Texas Woman's University (yes they have guys there too, lol) Kodaly Choral Track Level 2 Certified

Mr. Aron Mattes

As you might expect, music is a huge part of my life.  Whether it is listening to music, writing music, performing music (singing, guitar, piano, drums, etc.), or teaching music, I love that amazing feeling you get when you work with other musicians to create something together, and I enjoy helping kids learn to do that, too.

This will be my 23rd year teaching choir and my 13th year at Frankford.  In addition to teaching choir, I have a wife (who teaches private voice lessons) and two awesome little dogs (Maggie and Layla).  Some of my other interests are playing guitar in a band, playing video games (mostly PC, but some console), and woodworking.

Know Your Why:

Music is one of the most powerful forces in our world.  Creating/performing music with other people is an amazing thing unlike any other.  I want to give kids a place where they can feel at home and learn to create music and interact with other musicians in a way that builds them up.  Music is a common language across the world and I want to help kids learn to express themselves through it.

  • I will try to be available just about any time you need tutorials.  Afternoons are better due to our voices being warmed up (and that my brain is slow in the morning), but if you need a morning time or something specific just check ahead of time to make sure I can be there for you.  I am not usually available on Friday afternoons.
