Hello Frankford Family!

My name is Trenton Brasfield, and I am jubilant to join the Frankford Family and be in service to the wonderful pupils that I have the privilege of teaching. I received my undergraduate degree from The University of Alabama where I majored in public relations and minored in sociology. I am currently attending American University where I will receive my MAT in Secondary ELAR and Special Education. My studies at American have given me the pedagogy to instill new practices and strategies that can be used to teach the whole child, and incorporate elements of them that not only exist in the classroom, but beyond. My formal work history has been with adolescents with mental and behavioral issues. This experience allows me to go into spaces and see beyond the surface of most children. It has taught me to leave my personal notions at the door, and approach each student of mine as an individual with a complex personality that is unique to them. This also tasks me with getting to understand them beyond their abilities in my classroom, and to explore them for the human they are. My work history also allows me the privilege to not only teach children curriculum, but other life-long skills that will assist them as they determine who it is that they want to become. As of now, I do not have much free time due to my heavy schedule, but when I do have time, self-care is my favorite pastime. Anything that feeds into me, and ensures that I am always the best version of me, is what drives me. Once again, I am delighted to be a part of the Frankford Family this year, and I hope to bring knowledge and joy into the lives of my students as well as all others I come across during my time here.
