I am a very proud product of Plano ISD so I am extremely proud to teach in the district I grew up in. This will be my 15th year at Frankford, where I have served as a special education teaching assistant, student teacher, and finally a classroom teacher. I have been a resource language arts or reading teacher for the last eight years. For the 21-22 school year, I begin my new role as the dyslexia support teacher, teaching multisensory strategies through a program called Take Flight. This program uses a variety of strategies to teach students with dyslexia how to decode words, spell, read with accuracy and automaticity, and how to comprehend what they read.
My Why:
To give students the tools they need in order to feel empowered in their education. To be a cheerleader for my students when they doubt themselves and to celebrate with them when they experience success. To push my students to greatness and teach them that mistakes are how we learn and grow. To provide a safe environment for making mistakes so teachable moments can happen.
