I opened Barksdale in 1996 as a second grade teacher and then years later moved to first grade where I currently teach the BEST children in PISD.  I am passionate about first grade!  There is nothing better than watching a child discover that they CAN read and the growth that continues to take place after that!  

I graduated from Allen High School and then attended the University of North Texas for both my undergraduate and graduate studies.  I have taught in Plano ISD since graduation and have been fortunate to teach in the same school all but one year of my career. 

My husband and I live in Frisco, TX where we share our lives with our dog.  We enjoy traveling, IndyCar racing, and mountain biking.  I enjoy cooking, gardening and entertaining.  I am a life-long learner and am always looking, reading, and studying ways to enhance my student's learning.
