I grew up in South Holland, Illinois, a suburb south of Chicago. After attending college at DePaul University, where I received a Bachelor of Arts – Music Education, and a few years later, a Masters of Accountancy, I moved to Dallas, Texas. I have two sons, Stanton and Alex, who bring me infinite joy, and are Plano ISD graduates. I also have five grandchildren, two boys and three girls. Prior to moving to Austin to work on my PhD. in Curriculum and Instruction/Language and Literacy at The University of Texas at Austin, I was a special education teacher/team leader in Plano ISD for 7 years. After completing my PhD, I returned to the Dallas area and Plano ISD to be closer to family. My spare time is spent with my Labradoodle, Yeats, my Saint Berdoodle, Gracie, and my family.

This will be my tenth year at Barksdale Elementary as a member of the Special Education Team and I love working with the staff, students, and parents of our community.
