Mrs. Helen Arceneaux
I am excited about joining the Frankford family this year! I am coming back to Plano ISD after 5 years of teaching in Richardson ISD. I have been married for 22 years this year and we have a wonderful little Kindergartner who is attending Plano ISD schools. We have 3 guinea pigs who take turns being the classroom pet for the day. My family and I have lived in Plano for the last 20 years and are proud to call Plano home.
This year I will be teaching 6th grade science but I have been teaching 7th grade and 8th grade science in my previous role. I love spending time with my family, gaming, creating miniatures, and exploring science concepts in my free time. Before I was a teacher, I was a marine and freshwater biologist. I have combined all of these loves into a classroom game I call Atlas Svijeta where my students can journey to knighthood! On the way, they get to earn awesome perks and privileges.
I have a BS in Biology/Geology (Interdisciplinary with a teaching certificate) from UT Dallas' UTeach program. I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in science curriculum as well. I am a frequent presenter at educational conferences across the nation. I am a previous Region 10 Texas Secondary Teacher of the Year in addition to being a recipient of several national and international teaching awards.
