I am excited about this year! I've been teaching at Frankford MS since 2022. I came back to Plano ISD after 5 years of teaching in Richardson ISD. I have also taught at the Plano Outdoor Learning Center. I have been married for 23 years and we have a wonderful little boy who is attending Plano ISD schools. We have 3 guinea pigs who take turns being the classroom pet for the day. My family and I have lived in Plano for the last 20+ years and are proud to call Plano home.
I primarily teach 6th grade science here at Frankford MS but I taught 7th grade and 8th grade science at RISD. I love spending time with my family, gaming, creating miniatures, and exploring science concepts in my free time. Before I was a teacher, I was a marine and freshwater biologist. I have combined all of these loves into a classroom game I call Atlas Svijeta where my students can journey to knighthood! On the way, they get to earn awesome perks and privileges.
I have a BS in Biology/Geology (Interdisciplinary with a teaching certificate) from UT Dallas' UTeach program. I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in science curriculum as well. I am a frequent presenter at educational conferences across the nation. I am a previous Region 10 Texas Secondary Teacher of the Year in addition to being a recipient of several national and international teaching awards.
