Double Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Political Science

Zahia Shah

I’m thrilled to be starting my 6th year as a teacher in PISD, from being a substitute in the district, to 2 years spent at the IB School at Huffman Elementary. Teaching English Language Arts and Reading is my passion. Every day, I’m driven by the excitement of making a real impact on my students, helping to expand their minds, and nurturing a love for learning that lasts a lifetime.

I became a teacher because I believe in the power of education to transform lives. My goal is to create an environment where students not only absorb knowledge but also develop the critical thinking skills and curiosity that will serve them well beyond the classroom. I want to inspire them to be lifelong learners, always questioning, exploring, and growing.

In my free time, I love hanging out with my 4-year-old and my husband, who is a proud Renner and PWSH graduate. We enjoy traveling around the globe and discovering new local coffee shops and restaurants together. I’m an avid reader, especially of audiobooks as of recently, which I often squeeze in between soccer practices and all the other things that keep life busy and exciting.

I look forward to partnering with my students and their families to have a successful year and learn a lot! :)
